About Me

Shukokai Karate In Perth

Shukokai Karate Alliance Australia are Karate Schools based in Perth and Adelaide. The word Shukokai means “everybody’s way or the way for all” and I wish to enable children and adults to attend my classes and learn the Shukokai way.

My History

I am full qualified black belt 8th dan Karate tutor with over 43 years experience. I have represented England many times in international competitions and won the bronze medal in the  PAA world championships in 1990. I have relocated to Australia on a Distinguished Talent Visa and am one of the highest graded instructors in this country

After retiring from competing, I joined Greater Manchester Police in the north of England  where I became a qualified authorised Home Office Self Defence Trainer and taught police officers from all over the UK. I retired from the force as a specialist Sergeant in 2014 and relocated to Perth. I have set up the Shukokai Karate Alliance Australia to share my knowledge and teaching to students in the local area and our satellite schools in Adelaide and Melbourne.

I am passionate about Shukokai Karate and offer all inclusive classes encouraging children and adults to come and join me and fall in love with the art the way I have. Click through to find out more about karate in Perth and a class near you.

My son has been attending this club for over a year now and really enjoys it. He is working hard to try and achieve his black belt. With the assistance of Sensei Ian I believe he will get there. Everyone works hard each week to learn what is required to take their next belt. They also work in pairs and practice their manueveres so they are ready for any situation as well as realising how the techniques they have learned actually work.
